Saying and doing are two different things. No ones going to dare wipe Israel off the map, and the Israeli army is strong enough to take on the entire middle east already.
Besides, they'll not need all this in a few years, Britain and the US are going to end up invading half the middle east, imperialism all over again?

Jim it was to do with the republics right to defend itself from say Britain if it were in a similar situation as what Isreal is in. Setanta your post would be fine in an ideal world within the middle east, but in reality what did Lebanon do to stop attacks before Isreal made a move? Paletinaian authorities armed and trained by the Americans what did they do when Isreal was constantly being attacked? The answer to both is very little or nothing. So it is the terrorsits that leave Isreal with no choice, but Isreal must make moves also. Then again it has and it has engaged in peace talks over recent years, gave some land back etc but the terrorists keep attacking.

I thought we moved away from that, because as you said, its just predicting things.
If the Republic was in a similar situation as Israel it would have an army strong enough to invade the whole north and Britain too, doesnt mean it would. Countries do things differently. Most countries in the middle east dont like Israel, it doesnt mean they wont let things be. Most of them are on the American payroll anyway like Saudi Arabia, anything they say about Israel is for show to keep their own power centralised.
The Palestinian Authority has no authority, so it cant do anything. The Lebonnese army wants its territory back as much as Hezbollah, and Hezbollah are not just a "terrorist" army, they're well trained with thousands of members and it was at the loss of Israel to underestimate them because they ended up losing the war.
But ofcourse you'll say otherwise, you tow the line.

So would you want your country to defend itself if it was in the same situation as Isreal? No point saying doing so and saying it are two different things because Isreals neighbours did try to do what they said they would do.
I think you are still missing the point. If Lebanon wouldn't try to stop them then the Isrealis will and that is the difference and one of the reasons I admire the Isrealis so much. People condemn the Isrealis for incursions yet seem to ignore the fact these incursions happen. When a government will do nothing or cannot do anything then the Isrealis will. Simple as that and I would expect any other country to do the same if they faced what Isreal has to face.
It's all very good us judging the Isrealis etc from here, perhaps if we were in their shoes then we may think and act differently.

Clearly yes, but if it was in the same position as israel it would be in a position to talk. You make it out that the world hates poor wee israel and theyre last hope is to defend themselves from rabid arabs, its just not how it is.
The Israelis tried to stop Hezbollah, but they where firing cluster bombs into places like Beruit. Cluster bombs are illegal under international law and they fired them into places where Hezbollah are not that well supported. Is it not ironic that Hezbollahs support comes from the occupied south?
