Well it would appear that from republicans arguments that the local Irish populace were ignorant as to the activities of the Nazis.Evidence is available pointing the finger at the Roman Catholic Church both in helping war criminals out of Europe and into Ireland, they then helped them settle in Ireland. The Franciscan and Trappist monks were well aware of the what the Nazis did,and those that helped them within Ireland were also aware of their crimes.

Well, that would be in keeping with their Mentor who presently occupies the throne in Rome. Sure to be sure he was in the Nazi Youth, but wait, I hear the Romans yelling, he was forced into joining the Nazis. You honestly couldn't make it all up, they can nearly lie their way out of anything, they are masters at the art and they have got away with it for generations but slowly and surely it is catching up with them. At least a few brave Irishmen and Irishwomen have had the bravery and audacity to tell the truth and take their place with Ulstermen and Ulsterwomen and stand against the flow of Roman Lies and Roman Propaganda. We have experienced the Roman murderers as they have systematically bombed and destroyed our beloved country. Countless numbers of Ulsterfolk, both Roman Catholic and Protestant, have been butchered by these Cowards, who masquerade under an Irish Banner, to subdue us under a yoke and bondage which comes from a wee man in a foreign city and pretends to represent God upon the earth. Before this representation of Antichrist came the Pagan Romans and even they couldn't subdue our Forefathers, the Picts and Ulsterfolk, so I don't think the Fenian/Gaelic/Roman/Irish have any chance despite all the help they are getting.

Sorry to interupt but what exactly is wrong with that great woman Magaret Thatcher? For some reason her name keeps coming up. Is it because she stood up to republicans?? What we need IMO is more people like her.

The Irish Government let them stay for years. ::)I suppose you altar boys believed all the priests told you ,if they said the Nazis were nice people then they were nice people. I'll have to answer that when I read into those names. What did a priest tell me? I'm not a catholic, keep your cheek to yourself mate.

What we need IMO is more people like her. What is right with her? She tried to crush the working class with her silly taxes while the rich got richer. Nothing to do with Republicanism, it was the English that got her out. We already had more people like her, new labour are basically thatcherites with better haircuts.

I'm not refuting or accepting it at the minute, as you'll see I edited my last post. Start with Irelands Nazis on the history channel or on you tube.I'm surprised you computer literate republicans who are experts in Irishness have not explored your unpleasant Nazi background ,you being champions for civil rights and all that.Google Albert Folens for the Irish newspapers views not us bigoted Prods.Otto Skorzeny Hitlers favourite commando you'll find interesting.I'm sure no evidence no matter how good will be factual enough to please you.I cannot understand why you want a United Ireland.Obviously you envisage an Ireland united without Protestants as you have very little in common with us,and absolutely no acceptance of your involvement in some of the shameful episodes in Irelands history.

The Irish Christian Front formed by a man called Patrick Belton, TD for both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael, were a pressure group which organised massive demonstrations all across Ireland rallying support for O'Duffy's Blueshirts. It would appear that the Roman Church in Ireland were deeply concerned that they were losing their grip on the Irish people during the 1930's and the fact that the Spanish people were in open revolt against Franco and the Vatican caused them to react by using their power and influence to stop the same thing happening in Ireland.
Cardinal McCrory Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of all Ireland in an address to 7,000 pilgrims at a shrine to Oliver Plunkett said 'There is no room any longer for any doubt as to the issues at stake in the Spanish conflict. It is not a question of the Army against the people, nor the Army plus the Aristocracy and the Church against Labour. Not at all. It is a question of whether Spain will remain as she has been for so long, a Christian and Catholic land or a Bolshevist and anti God one'. It would appear that the Agents of Rome were terrified at the prospect of the Irish Nation rising up against them and used the likes of Eoin O'Duffy and the Blueshirts to keep the Irish people in suppression.
It is also interesting to note that while O'Duffy raised up the Irish Brigade to fight for Franco and the Church there were other Irishmen who fought against the Romans. They were the Irish Anti Fascist Volunteers or International Brigade and they numbered about 145 including believe it or not former IRA men, so everything is not black and white. They lost 63 men during the war so it goes to show that not all the Irish were brainwashed by the Romans.
Christy Moore wrote a song called 'Viva la Quinta Brigada' which included the following words 'when the Bishops blessed the Blueshirts in Dun Laoghaire as they sailed beneath the Swastika to Spain'. It would appear that more than a few Irishmen knew exactly what input the Roman Church had with the Fascists and to be fair to these brave men they risked life and limb in the fight against both. As a Protestant this gives me hope and inspiration and one article I read really suprised me. Apparently the people of Achill Island were resolute in their determination to stand united against the Roman Church and Irish State. A few chinks of light here and there. (Post edited by Setanta 2.)No posts that encourage violence, racism, sexism or religious bigotry ) there are a lot of complexities and there were many Irishmen and Irishwomen who risked everything in the struggle against both. We in Ulster would do well to remember this and try to understand the difficult circumstances they were faced with. I am more convinced than ever that there are a lot of ordinary Irish people very similar to ourselves who just want to get through this life as easy as they can and it would be an honour to stand united with them as they try to rid themselves of a system that has held them in bondage for far too long.

Irelands "unpleasent nazi background" is as unpleasant as British nazi background I guess, but you'll rarely hear an Englishman want to talk about it either. The reason I've not looked into it that much is because there is not a lot of unbiased information regarding the nazis and Ireland. I'd hardly call willy frazers page neutral either.
I cannot understand why you want a union with Britain, you've got less in common with an Englishman than with an irishman in the north. I envisage no such Ireland and I dont think you know enough about myself or other republicans on this forum to say anything else, if you did you would know fine rightly my opinions and respect for many protestants including the ones on this forum. You are badly informed and lets be honest, you talk absolute shite. Same old loyalist paranoia about an Ireland without protestants. Do you believe everything they tell you? I take it you believe catholics have their eyes too close toghether and that nuns have horns on their heads too.

You didnt have too, this entire topic was sparked by Frasers page, its the reason we're sitting here arguing about nazis in Ireland.
I'm certainly not paranoid of criticism for the south I have plenty of my own, its certainly not a "beloved Ireland" either. You've still got that pissy "this is our wee country and your ruining it" attitude and are using every chance possible to attack another country without looking at your own doorstep.

I personally don't trust an Englishman and I know exactly where you are coming from on that subject. I am now under no illusion that many Irishmen and Irishwomen where fighting for fair play and justice no matter what juristication they were trying to live under. They have my full support and I would help and protect them to the best of my ability. We in the Black North are slow learners but at the end of the day get us on your side and we will be the best friends and comrades you ever had.

Setanta on church interferance I can only go by the examples that I have come across such as the lady in Drogheda I think that was refused treatment because the church said so. The school you mentioned is indeed another example. How do you make out it will never arise again? Thing is it did and that was very recent, discrimination happened against Protestants in the area, a local priest denied it but was then shown a letter proving it. So because these things are supposed to being dealt with or these issues being addressed does not mean that they no longer happen. The school is a very good example of church interferance against Protestant school children.
If that was Belfast and Catholic children it would be headline news, but for some reason because it is in Ireland and affects Protestant children it's hardly reported on. Do you think this is fair?
I believe it is just outside Dublin so do you have any links on it or again is it a case of not being remotely important.
