So now Unionists are to blame for Lizzie not being invited. Ah these preconditions, I thought republicans hated preconditions. All we have to do is agree to devolving policing powers and she will be invited. If that is not a form of blackmail and a major precondition I don't know what is.
If this is how it is to be then I will never support devolving the powers, not now not ever.

No Unionists are to blame for not going forward with bringing the police under local control. That then links to both British and Irish Government policy in arranging visits. The entire peace process has been a form of black mail. The were blackmailed before they entered Government, SF have been blackmailed, the entire population has been blackmailed. Not a new concept for us.

Perhaps then it is valid of me to say it is republicans who are holding things up.
So what was Bertie Ahern and Mary doing up here in the last few weeks? Shouldn't there visits to the UK be also prevented until the policing issue is resolved, or is this only a oneway street with republicans calling the shots. (excuse the pun).
Yes quite but republicans are still trying to Blackmail Unionists. Simple as this I along with many others are contacting our local reps at all levels. I do hope in a funny kind of way that republicans keep this double standard hypocrisy as it will make our job all the easier.

How are Republicans holding things up Wasp? SF have been telling people to use the police, to support the police, and we have been using the police. No go areas have now opened up a lot more. But the police are still toothless because we can't make laws to change what they can do. As much as you love to blame Republicans on things because we are big bad men, you can't, we've done everything possible to get people to use the police and to accept them.
No. The fact that you even think that shows your lack of understanding of the situation.
IF you think this is wrong then do something about it, its no use sitting here whinging to us on a forum and thinking Republicans are to blame for everything in your life. We don't have double standards in state visits. Contact your local MLAs and put pressure on them to devolve the police and justice systems so we can sort out the problems in the housing estates all over NI. Then the British and Irish government policy will change on the Queen visiting the south. Its not Republicans this time, its your own British Government agreeing with it. SF have no say in the matter.

Double Standards? Compare what the President has done to build bridges to what the Queen has done. Sorry setanta, As I said the Queen stays out of politics. So either she sticks to her duies as a head of state (which is what Mary should be doing), or she gets involved in politics. Which by the way I would abhore, there are enough polititions to do that.

Mary has been sticking to her duties as head of state. A Presidents role is different from a Monarchs, which is why I've always been in favour of a British Republic anyway. President Anto Blair
