First of all before I say anything why has all setanta's posts been deleted?? If as I presume he has left the site then I would suggest BA being made up to a mod or admin to replace setanta. Religously BA and myself are poles apart but there are people on here such as BA, SRG and myself who have religious beliefs and to even things up as well as having a republican and loyalist as admin, I think it would be a good idea to have someone who has deep religious beliefs as admin as well.
This IMHO would not only fill the empty seat left by setanta, it would even up the balance between non-religious and religious viewpoints on admin as well as political viewpoints.
What do you think??

That's fine WASP but what happened to Setanta? He posted yesterday saying that after reading this thread and others he was leaving the forum as things stand or words to that affect, then today his posts have been deleted which I find odd. Why delete them when he is still a member, infact why delete them at all?

Hi Wasp, I didn't really see this till now - I don't think I'd always be available to moderate as I'm running around at the minute a lot, I spent most of last week on a course for example till late in the evenings. I'm also applying for a certain job where physical fitness is paramount so I've been trying to knock the pounds off and get the stamina up - so far up to 45 minutes jogging at a moderate pace with no real stress - trying to get up to one hour running at a fairly high speed so I can pass the bleep test element of the test. Although I'm chubby I was less out of shape than I at first feared as I don't smoke or drink so that balanced out it a bit.
I do look in here from time to time , I'm not sure why Setanta's gone off -it does seem mighty odd.

I think so to be honest, we've gone round and round in circles and as Jim says hardly anyone uses the forum any more - there's no exchange of ideas any more really just the same old few tired points again and again.

Regarding setanta I think his colleagues thought he was to hardline and that is why he deleted his posts.
Regarding the forum I think we have all got to know eachother quite well regardless of fall outs we still do try and help answer other peoples points. Take Jim he needed some help and we tried to help out. Things are a bit quiet but this forum is always somewhere that we can go and it is much easier debating with a few than a whole pile of people where posts and points all to easily get lost.

I dunno if thats true or not about setanta, up to him though.
I dont mind this place, its dead and recruiting members has always failed, not a lot of people want to dig deep into their politics and broaden their views. My views have certainly changed over the years anyway.

As have mine, I'd say my views have moved on a great deal in the last 2 or 3 years.

This could and should be the best political forum on the net. It has a lot of potential to be carried forward. There is no other forum on the net quite like this one. The others are either republican or loyalist, all back slapping each other and agreeing on everything. How is that going to change anything? Anyone I know who has become involed here stretching way back to the days of Love Ulster and througn several versions of TWF Have changed and I include myself. I have wonderful memories of here and of the people who were and are involved. I have also made many good friends some of whom I disagree with totally when it comes to politics and religeon. On this forum we have had good times and bad times, but the times I remember best are those where we were there for each other. I have met quite a few people from this site now, and I can tell you I came away from them all with a warm heart. They have all been great people in their own way, friendly nice and welcoming to me, each and every one

Perhaps if current members could spare 5 minutes everyother day to read and post something that is of interest to them the forum would continue to get stronger, and the debates may heat up again lol.

Alreet lads. Ive not been posting at all the past few weeks, I went back to Belfast and had other things on my mind but Ive a few topics to start up.
But, with Bilks post in mind. I've came away from this website with a different perspective on the other side; I still believe in what I believe, I am still a Republican but outside of this website I have a lot of protestant friends (most my friends here in england are protestants actually, i only know 2 people from NI who arent out of about 10), and I'd not have gotten to know them without changing my perspectives because I wouldnt have wanted to.
This is the only website on the internet that I know of that openly has republicans and loyalists debating on issues relevent to us, I found my way here via Harry when I was talking to him on Up the Ra, they banned me for sticking up for a proddie either way.
I dont think this website in its current state (and even its format) can grow. No one wants to be told they are wrong when theyve grown up thinking they are right. Right now we only have a forum, and thats it, there is nothing to actually attract people as people do not just sign up to random forums, they have to be brought in through news websites or blogs or the like. I dont have the time or the patience to be updating one of those every day with news but I could look into setting one up if other people want to contribute.
Unless that happens, this website will get smaller and smaller.

I know our membership is small but that also has its plus points. I have had many heated debates with members here yet we all managed to get past them, we are all still talking and we even stick up for eachother.
For the record I am disappointed with setanta, we all know he would not speak out against sf and in particular adams and co, so it is now obvious he jumped before he could be questioned on the recent shocking abuse allegations, the same type of allegations that he rigthfully condemned the church for. Unfortunately he hasnt been able to bring himself to condem members of his own party and party leader for doing similar things. One southern reporter recently stated that sf members not challenging sf was more important than challenging sf members on serious child abuse allegations. Guess thats why setanta jumped and deleted his posts.
