I know our membership is small but that also has its plus points. I have had many heated debates with members here yet we all managed to get past them, we are all still talking and we even stick up for eachother. For the record I am disappointed with setanta, we all know he would not speak out against sf and in particular adams and co, so it is now obvious he jumped before he could be questioned on the recent shocking abuse allegations, the same type of allegations that he rigthfully condemned the church for. Unfortunately he hasnt been able to bring himself to condem members of his own party and party leader for doing similar things. One southern reporter recently stated that sf members not challenging sf was more important than challenging sf members on serious child abuse allegations. Guess thats why setanta jumped and deleted his posts. I doubt it was anything to do with that tbh, not even sure if he would have known. he's a long term member so theres not a lot of speaking out he can do if people see it. not his place either.

Jim I totally disagree with your point that it is not his place to speak out. If this had of been a Unionist politician I am sure setanta would have had plenty to say which I would fully understand and agree with. He is no longer here to defend his stance or answer my points but you know as well as I do how vocal setanta was when it was anyone from the PUL community and how often he demanded links, proof, suggested I was a liar, dismissed anything that showed him to be wrong etc etc. Here we have the RCC which plays a major role in republican areas where most things are centred around the church and the widespread abuse scandals, we have the proof that the ira are on record as commiting more child abuse cases than anyother group, we now have a sf councillor suspended over allegations of child abuse, we have women speaking out now at being raped by ira members and it all covered up and now we have the sf leader involved in the cover up and protection of his brother who raped jis own daughter. Any wander setanta left.

No offence to Setanta but i always thought that alot of loyalist/unionists refused to use this site because of him being both a Sinn Fein member and the one who started up the site. Could the fact the he has left entice more unionists to join up?

I wish they would.
Its impossible to stay on a Unionist site once they discover you're posting from Ireland. I got booted off Calton and Pulse numerous times despite being completely against republican violence. Republican sites are just as one-sided.
I want to debate with Unionists not just on NI issues, but world issues like the US, Isreal, Planetary warming. etc.

I can't believe this place is still here, there must be a reason for that? People want it! If that's so then we will have to keep it alive with interesting debates. As it is any posts here now seem to be about the site itself rather than the many issues of importance within Northern Ireland. I still get the odd text from Setanta. He never mentios this place, but I'll try to find out from him why he deleted his posts. After Sandy and I met him in Dublin there seemed to be a hope of a revival, but it faded again very quickly. I don't know what we do to keep it going, but I come on quite often and nothing has been said for days. I remember a time when if you put a post on the old TWF people were bursting at the seams to reply. Sandy posted almost every day leadinng up to Christmas on the Daily Devotional but that was it. I think lads we are flogging a dead horse, this place is more a message board for those who want to leave messages for those we miss. Well I know I miss them, don't know about the rest of you lol. Seriously though, I do miss the banter, I've been on a few loyalist sites but they don't do anything for me, I guess this is the end of the road for interaction between the waring parties most of whom once enjoyed the fight. Btwhas anyone heard anything from my old mate bearhunter he was talking about coming here at one time, don't know if it ever happened.

Hey Bilk, I did make it over, but it was a flying visit, sadly. Managed a few days Oop North, which were lovely. Did the North Antrim coast to show a lady friend what spectacular sights you find when you avoid the tourist-riddled areas of Kerry and the southwest. As to your post above, I think you're right about this being a message board. I've dipped my head in from time to time, but it's all a bit sparse. Not even any jokes about Iris, for God's sake!

Well believe it or not I enjoy debating with republicans, republicans that is that will listen to hear the Unionist point of view and their feelings and thoughts. But with me it is not a one way street and it works both ways. If I am being honest I find it alot easier to try to accomodate republicans who are willing to condemn what the ira did, take on board the suffering of my community rather than the all to often replies of avoiding the questions or points and the constant denials made. This in turn has made me speak up for those with different aspirations to myself and I believe it is these attitudes from us all that can make real change.

On an added note take BA, the 2 of us have been at loggerheads manytimes, we strongly disagree on religious beliefs etc but recently his attitude softened, his religious beliefs had him looking at things differently and I am sure if I asked similar questions now to what I did a year ago the answers would be different.
Look at this thread title and maybe that will be proof of what I have spoke of concerning attitudes etc.
