Earl wrote 'Their viewpoint is too insular, defensive, backward looking and of no relevance to the modern world. Some of them can't even tell the difference between religion and politics, nevermind the difference between the 21st century and the 17th!'
Haha lol, now that is rich coming from someone who lives in a country that was ruled by the Catholic church upto recently and to an extent still does, a country that refused cancer treatment no to long ago to a woman on religious grounds, a country where in 1993, church property held by the Sisters of Charity in Dublin which once served as a convent laundry was to be sold back to the Republic for public use. It was discovered at that time that some 133 graves existed, unmarked, in a cemetery on the convent grounds, a country where these schools of penitence were still open till recently. And you are calling us backward.
While the rest of the democratic world moved on Ireland remained in the Churchs grip where it carried out untold horrors to many innocent people whos crimes were that they maybe had kids out of wedlock, left abusive husbands or because of something at home and even worse the treatment of many kids who were abused by preists. If they were caught they were just moved to abuse all over again in another parish, yet if the priest wanted to marry he was kicked out of the church.
Now when you consider all this you have no right whatsoever to call anyone backward, take a good look at how Ireland was upto recently and to an extent still is. At least you made me laugh with your comments.

I just want to say that my post was a bit strong although true. But in no way do I equate priest with meaning he is guilty of any of the above. Earl I took offence to how you described Unionists and reacted. Sorry if anyone is offended by my reaction.

Wasp www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TsCod_9pUg&feature=relatedyou should stay away from those crazy sites there WASPy. Which website did you pull that one off? Was it The mathematicians of Satan or WHORING AND ASS FUCKING POPES? The last one there has some kind of nun/prostitute/bondage fetish thing going on too, you into that? You like to have a pop, fair enough. Which side of the island currently has a Protestant minister as their first minister? Which country still has everywhere closed on a Sunday? Which country has politicians who publicly denounce other people faiths and sexual orientation? I think you've a serious problem mate. You truly hate something, and you are obsessive about that hate. You will read and believe anything that will feed that hate. You are practically incoherent with that hate, making you post up cut and paste jobs from sites that are definetly not safe for work! I hate like most other people, but it's usually minor things like, James Blunts music, or burger king. But hating a whole religion is sick! Hating a whole people is sick too! And you can try and deny it, but like your cut and paste rubbish from fetish sites, you are less than credible. Your hate is clear as the sun in the sky. I actually feel sorry for you. How much time and effort do you spend focusing, concentrating and studying a subject which you hate with a passion? That's defenitly not healthy. And that's why at the end of the day, your side will lose. While you and your kind are at home, studying up on your canon laws, researching into random past crimes committed by individuals who have some form of link or another to the RC church, others are out in the real world, concentrating on how to improve everyones lot, and moving ever forward with a single mind towards the final objective. So by all means, please post up more of your fascinating insights into how other people are below you and how you are the only person who can ever be right and pure. Because it means that there's one less Unionist with their eye on the ball.

Fukn hell Earl that was a bit OTT. This thread has descended into a 'whos worse than who' argument. Lately it seems like that any progress we have made is just artificial. I'm not a mod but FFS lads calm down.

Depends on the website, you do know a jesuit runs kennedy institute in America which specializes in the very things the Catholic church claims it is opposed to.
Booted out as moderator more like.
Don't know, which is it? If yhou mean up here then it obviously proves you know feck all about up here, sure the best nights out are on a Sunday and I usually do all my shopping on a Sunday. Portrush is really busy on a Sunday with all the amusements open etc. So which country is it?
I think America and also up here with the likes of the hypocrite Paisley, which IMO shouldn't be mixed. Can you include the vatican as it has many with influence in politics and even diplomats.
How very very true.
I love James Blunt and what religion do I hate as a whole??
I agree totally, its disgusting.
Oh so because these sites point out actual truths which the vatican and catholic encylopedia confirms they are all rubbish. The oath may or may not be true but can you prove that this particular oath was never in place?
What subject? Do you mean religious viewpoints because I looooove that subject.
WHat because of me?? Ah well at least I won't deny what I am saying and I stand by it.
Oh so telling the truth is wrong, what about those sites/people which defend these things then in the name of Catholic church? Or is it only a Protestant thing.
LOL you should be on stage. Take a good look at your own country and some of its people before pointing the finger. Anyway if you took the time to read my posts where I describe myself you will see that I am far from above anybody. Infact I am quite happy to be below everybody if that makes you feel better about your superior thinking on Ireland/nationalists/catholics etc over the British/Protestants/Unionists etc.

Alright, this is probably getting out of hand. We've both said our piece, so lets leave it. I've had an hour or so to cool down and am not in the mood to get into a pointless, destructive slagging match. No-one wins at the end of the day with this type of carry-on, and I'll admit to that. I think all the shit that's happening at Liverpool is turning me into a lunatic!

i'm siding with republic here - please calm down lads. But wasp come on mate not the old myth of the jesuit oath - i expect better of you than that one. It's as old and hoary as the old supposed ira or sinn fein oath. I remember a mate of mine who was evangelical christian relating this one to my dad - fortunately my dad despite been a devout catholic has a broad sense of humor and nearly died laughing as it's just too nonsensical for words. The jesuits were politically manipulative and not always the nicest bunch but you will do a whole lot better criticising them by using reliable temperate sources and not rabid nonsense like that!

Typical republic he steps in when I was going to reveal all about the vatican buying nuclear weapons to attack Prods with. ;D ;D
Posting certainly got a reaction and to be honest I would be surprized if it was true. I did not say it was true but I didn't say either that the oath was never at onetime used which I am not so sure of. But I doubt it.
We all need a sense of humour especially in N.Ireland. The amount of times we laugh at say sinn fein and their bullshit happens all the time, then with Paisley we sometimes cringe with embarrassment but then piss ourselves after it.
Again I am not saying it is true but how do you know it is rabid nonesense? Do you remember what the Catholic church has done through the centuries, do you remember how they ordered the torture and death of millions, do you remember how they condemned to hell those who oppose them in their doctrine etc etc. So how do you know it was not used at one time in its history?
