my flatmate and her friend (both are english) are going to dublin in july for 4 nights and they asked me where is good to go over the weekend period (thursday to saturday), I can't remember the names of anywhere worthwhile so asking anyone here. Keep in mind they are about 18 or 19 and will want to go to a club thats worthwhile and all that jazz.
Going down myself to see them one of the days then if anyone wants to catch a pint then I'm getting the bus back to belfast, any good pubs anywhere outside of the temple bar area but still in the city center area? That place annoys me, full of yanks.

George's St/Camden St/Harcourt St/Dame St area around St. Stephens Green is always good. If they want to try a pub with a traditional feel, I'd recommend O'Neills on Suffolk St. Really good traditional Irish Pub grub. I love their Guinness stew. www.oneillsbar.com/If they fancy something a little more modern (and isn't a sweat-box), I'd recommend Solas on Camden St. Does decent modern pub grub and pizzas and the like and decent cocktails if they fancy getting completely trollied. www.dublinks.com/index.cfm/loc/11/spid/F2EE7106-D27C-4730-A21A8067B3BC9014/pt/10.htmIf the weather is particularly good when they are over, check out this list of decent pubs with decent beer gardens (I strongly recommend Dicey Reillys on Harcourt St.) www.dublinks.com/index.cfm/loc/11/pt/0/spid/E9D8E5E2-6801-4BB1-819687D9128A972B.htmOn the northside, I'd recommend Sin é on Ormond Quay. Nice mix of traditional and modern contemporary, with decent funky music and plenty of students: www.dublinpubscene.com/thepubs/sine.htmlI know you want to avoid Temple bar, but if your mates want to experience something more continental, they can try 'The Czech Inn' on Essex gate in Temple bar. Loads of Eastern European beers. They could try the 'The Bull and Castle' in Christchurch, which apparently has a German style beer hall. I've never been, but heard good things about it. Might go there this weekend. www.irishcraftbrewer.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=57&Itemid=36Gigs and clubs wise, My favourite club is the Pod. Check out the website for listings of what's on when they're here: www.pod.ie/Also, check out www.entertainment.ie, www.mcd.ie, www.ticketmaster.ie or www.tickets.ie to see what else might be on in clubland.

It's not so much night life info I need, more shopping info. This aul doll from Ulster and a wee Ulster chick are hoping to head south in the very near future to do a bit of retail therapy. Where are the best shops, don't have to be the dearest We hit the spa capitol of Ulster a few days ago and are ready to spread our wings. Please... any info will be appreciated. ;D Yeah, Dundrum shopping centre is loaded with labels. Henry St and Graffton St. then would be the big shopping streets. Try St. Stephens green shopping centre and Jervis St. Shopping centre too.

If you fancy some shock therapy then pop into Brown Thomas and have a look at the prices. 50 bleedin euros for a pair of Y-Fronts Suppose your a Pennys man then when it comes to that sort of stuff. €2 for 50 pairs of boxers and a sweatshop worker free with it.
