Come on folks. Lets tease each other. What's everyone got planned for their holidays (that translates as vacation to our U.S. members ) I'm off to Barcelona for a week. Meself and some mates are renting a city centre apartment. The Sonar electronic music festival is on, so there'll be tonnes of decent gigs on. Don't think that I'll see much sun!

Was suppose to go to EP. Not happening.
Going to Gatecrasher on the sunday in Buckinhamshire and going to the Ricky Hatton fight in Eastlands the night before, in May. Er. Oxegen in July, and probably a few trips to Dubs before I go back to England! Was wanting to go to the Metallica gig but no one is up for it, wankers! Anyone here going so I have a wanker to stand beside chanting at for 3 hours ?? (Doubt it.)
Would like to go to the Manchester city tour of Thailand in the summer but I do not have £2000 to spend unlike some of my posh southern english friends who are touring Asia.

My brothers are probably going to Metallica alright. They're massive fans. I haven't liked any of their stuff since after the 'Load' album. I've seen them twice now, and they always put on a good show. The place loses it when they play 'Whisky in the jar'. What Setanta says.

Turns out I need more money for gatecrasher cuz of feckin trains so I wont be going at all now. Would have liked to see them, saw them twice in dublin before though so not missing anything new eh?
I remember the first time they didn't play whiskey in the jar and the crowd was cracking up and chanting for it all night. Belted it out the next year and it was unreal, everyone got in on it.
Pint in the summer would be good craic, will see next time im in dublin.

okay lads met the mum all went well so far, told her i am serious about marriage and asked for hand in marrigae as it's the respecful custom here apparently. Excuse crap typing as my fiancees laptop is set to automatically type in russian and so i had to alter it to translate as i type as my russian is not good enough to type a lenghty note and then translate. anyone who thinks russians have nothing should come here - also for those fellow pc gamers all new pñ and ps3 and xbox games are the equiavelnt of ten pounds

Um well here we are in Russia then, actually a quite nice little city, in some ways better than uk cities and some worse. Anyone of us here who grew up on the images of russians standing in line for food who still believes that put it out of your head the food is far better here and even allowing for differences in income far cheaper. Our big supermarkets like tescos could learn a thing or two about choice and range of products from here as the cheese section alone in the small supermarket nearby was vast. it has it's downsides some of the buildings are a bit worn down and need repairs but you can see where the city authorities are making a determined effort to correct it as there's a major rebuilding programme. A few hilarious asides, i was aware cds and dvds are dirt cheap here (new legit cds are the same price here as bootleg ones in western europe) so we decided to buy some dvds to watch (making sure to pick ones with english language options as my russian is nowhere near good enough to watch a movie in it) and the first movie we hit was a russian edition of 'the wind that shakes the barley' - apparently fairly popular here, there's also of all things an irish bookshop which is er fairly nationalist in outlook although it does carry normal books as well although sadly my grasp of the cyrillic alphabet is pretty bad so i had to ask the missus to translate titles for me. Mind you i got a discount by pulling out an irish passport theres also that god awful institution the requisite irish and english pubs - although the irish pub had me falling on th floor laughing as there's a whacking great union flag and a flag of ulster with a crown respectively outside and inside the pub -the price of guiness was no joke though - as it's imported it's about the equivalent of a fiver a pint. met the fiancees family - mum a bit worried i'd start judging her as her home is only small (fiancee warned me her mum would be panicky about this!) and a lot like the homes of country people in ireland say 30 years ago. to forestall this i brought pictures of the little cottage my dad was born in to point out my family are pretty much peasant and working class to and pointed out i judge people by other criteria in any case. i'd recommened it as an interesting place to come (although im biased of course) but not moscow where i had to stay a day on the way - overpriced and touristy with prices worse than london, but here a one hour cab journey from the airport cost me about 6 pound in english money and all tram and bus fares are the equivalent of 20p to anywhere in a wide locality. dinner in a good restaruant a fiver and to be frank the standard of cooking in cafes and restaurants here is miles above london (not that that's saying much nowadays mind) oh yeah another thing citie sin the uk and roi might learn from here is officers keeping traffic crime way down - speed here or go through red lights or drink drive and a police officer will be on your arse instantly and you will be paying a big fine by income standards here - drink driving is an automatic ban for life on first offence here for example.

I seen on tv once one of their supermarkets, and there was aisles and aisles of voddy all over the place. Seen anything like that? How was India Lee? Anywhere worth recommending?
