New anti-smoking laws
My second week of trying to quit
Won’t say that I am off them yet
The moral brigade have won their cause
We’re lumbered with anti-smoking laws
Next they’re sure to hit the drink
Despite what all the drinkers think
Your time will come, of that I’m sure
I think this time I’ll join the boors
Attack you all, for your evil vice
Maybe next time you’ll think twice
About hounding others for what they do
Now big brother is after you
No public consumption of alcohol
Yeah close the bloody pubs and all
Save the wives from drunken men
Close all the bloody drinking dens
Save our kids from death on roads
By drunken drivers, evil toads
Shut the pubs and clubs and bars
No more bingeing happy hours
You can drink, if you feel you must
But only in your home I trust
And what you drink will cost much more
So you’ll think twice before you pour
Four pounds fifty on every can
Courtesy of the taxing man
On the grounds that it is bad for you
Why don’t you do what others do
Give it up and see the light
Come on it’s easy, you know it’s right
Now doctors say it’s worse than fags
Each sip is worse than fifty drags
In later years when you need care
The NHS will not be there
Self inflicted is what they’ll say
Like those who smoked their lives away
Two weeks on, still trying hard
The evil weed I will discard
But listen good, for when I do
I’ll be coming after you
