Lying in bed at night scared that a bomb may go off at anytime and i only lived in Ballymena and we escaped the worst of it so god knows what it was like growing up in Belfast. I always got very worried when i was younger and when you seen the soldiers and police out stopping cars i used to get into a frenzy thinking they know something and something is going to happen anytime. My ma used to try and calm me down with its all normal but having soldiers sat in your front garden isn't normal Seeing my ma going crazy with fear and seeing her cry when the IRA bombed the police station. The cop shop isn't far from Harryville but anyway i slept through it and only awoke when my ma was shaking me frantically to see if i was ok. My granny lived in clonovan terrace which is right next to the cop shop and in those days home phones weren't as common so my ma couldn't get in contact with her ma. She was distraught and as the police had the town closed off we couldn't go round there. Sitting there trying to make sense of it all and why people would do this to people. The seeds of hatred were being sown within me, there and then.
