Does anyone on here play any poker?? I need somwhere to come and talk about getting beat and losing money and why everyone always seem to be more lucky than me!!!!

Playing in a tourney last night and got pocket kings beat by pocket aces!!!! I convinced myself he had aces but still called his all in with my kings Silly prat i know!!! Anyone any advice on how the hell to lay down your hand if you believe your behind??

I do not gamble to make money. Gambling is about losing. So if you gamble you must afford to loose. Have you ever seen a poor bookmaker?

In poker you should play your own hand and not your opponents, I like cards games. It is a form of maths, and so is professional gambling. Being bluffed and playing the percentages need to be given the same calculations. Is the bet an affordably loss? If so then test the bluff, if you can not afford the loss then the wise move is too fold, and wait until the percentages increase. You did not miss a chance to increae your chip stack, because tha chance was never there! Your calculations should have been based on can you aford to lose?

look at it this way.

3 people left. 1st person raises, 2nd player re-raise all in for 52,000 chips. I have pocket kings. No community cards have been dealt yet. Only a pair of aces can be beating me at this stage. I have 2,000 chips already in as the ante and a total of 51,000 chips in total. 6 other players have folded and i'm thinking some of them might have folded Ace with a small card. He could have aces but he may not, he needs to have aces or i'm well in front!!! I call. the person who raised first folds his pocket 10s. heads up and the shithead has the aces and worse pulls an ace on the turn my tourney is over.

Thats just a bad beat mate, id say you were right to make the call.
KK before the flop was a great hand, it was just unfortunate that he had the only hand to beat you. It would be pretty tough for anyone to lay down pocket Ks before the flop.
It happens, theres nothin you can do!!!!!!!!

You made the right choice Harry. KK in the hand is very hard to turn away from, and the odds of someone getting AA at the same time are very remote. Making the right call doesn't automatically mean that you'll win though, as luck is a massive factor.

Maybe you should ask NI's own Marty Smyth for a few tips. Was watching him win the Irish poker open last night. A very steady player.

Played again last night. Lost again ;D ;D I should get another hobby ;D ;D A pal got me with a real big bluff. I raised it up with KQ off suit. He called. Flop comes 2Q5, 2 spades on board. I bet 5000 chips with my pair of QQ. he calls. He's dangerous and calls me so i think he could be on a flush draw. Next card spade. I check, he checks. I'm worried he's got the flush but is trying to trap me. river comes a spade so thats 4 spades and i haven't got one in my hand I check, he goes all in for 24K. I have 27K left. He really doesn't look comfortable as i ask him how many chips is it again and my gut says he doesn't have a flush!!! Anyway i bottle it and lay down my top pair. he laughs like mad and throws over 3,4 of clubs. he'd been chasing the straight but missed and said he felt sure i didn't have a spade. It was a great bet by him but i'd of loved to tip the table over and punch his face in ;D ;D ;D

Anyway i'll tell you my hard luck stories again next monday ;D ;D

My brother has terrible luck at poker. Twice he's gone all in with full houses, and twice he's been beaten by the larger full house! What are the chances! One time he flopped a straight, and I also flopped a straight, the higher one though. Cleaned him out. I've yet to see a more unlucky player than him.
