Weird allies On a serious note, I would never try to tell a woman what she should or shouldn't do about an unwanted pregnancy. I am not and am unlikely to ever be in her position. At the end of the day it is a decision for the individual to make. We have no right to impose our religeous belifes on anyone. Just a personal opinion.

I am 85% against abortion and it's nothing to do with religion at all. It's to do with life. It's a baby! But of course nothing is black and white and in come cases (The X and C cases here in the 26 counties sring to mind) abortion is the lesser of two evils. On a seperate note, does Northern Irelands 1st Minister , of the Democratic UNIONIST Party, really believe in the Union if he's telling London not to "impose" stuff on "Ulster". Is his ethos Unionist or "our wee country" ? Good question, I'm a democrat in the true sense, I don't try to make democracy fit my needs. I have had this argument on other threads. We are, until a referendum says differently, part and parcel of the UK. If this bill is passed in parliament then it should become law in Northern Ireland.

How do you "impose" abortion anyway? Kill the firstborn of every family? Even Brown isn't that bad....

In the main I am against abortion as I am pro life but there are circumstances where abortion could be an option. as a father I would hate for any woman to abort our child for non life threatening reasons but then again I am not a woman who would have to go through such a traumatic ordeal so I can't really cast judgement on those who do this.

No one would be imposing abortion BH, but it would not be illegal to have an abortion, that law will be recinded. You will be free to have an abortion does not mean that you will have to have one by law. The churches want to stop government giving people that freedom, imposing their religeous beliefes on others through the law.

Well they shouldn't be able to as this law is a Westminster matter.

I am in agreement with you here WASP and I also do not feel as if I have a right to judge any other woman for her decision as I have always found it impossible to ever get a perfect fit in another's shoes. The only thing that concerns me is the mind set that some woman might have of treating an unwanted pregnancy like a common cold that needs to be gotten rid of as soon as possible without any real emotional thought of what she is considering.

I agree LL, this mindset would be a very very big problem.
