Feckin' civil servants. IF they have 13 sick days paid in the the year, they'll make sure that they get what they're entitled too. Same down here, except, they don't make up the majority of the work-force so it's not as visible as NI.

In Larne they all took a workign Month of sick! I've never heard of that anywhere before I knew one civil servant down here who took 3 months off on sick leave, retuned for a month and then went on a further leave of absence. And they still have a job! This is what happens when you have unions backing you up so you can't be fired. With no stick, you can wallow at your current level, take all the sick days that's coming your way, and more if you want too, take all the holidays, leave of absence, half days and career breaks you want, come in when you've done that and then do a half-assed job. You'll get paid either way, benchmarking will increase your salary by default over time and you get a pension. I've seen civil servants at work. Queuing up to clock out in the evening, sometimes 40 mins before it's time. I've seen over 30 of them come in to work one day and go straight to the canteen where they held an auction to buy players for the internal fantasy football league. This auction took the entire working day to do. Civil servants are complete wasters no matter what side of the border you're on.

spongers. I hate civil servants. Can't even change a light bulb without getting a union involved.
