ohhhhh we could go into lots of juicy detail about the royal familys links to the third reich - we won't even mention all the queen's in-laws who were in the SS and SOMEHOW got very light sentences when their turns for trial came up...

A very interesting program, showing the collapse of 'royal europe' and how some of these ex-royals tried to stay important in the new context by flirting with fascism. He was figure-head of the German red cross which at the time was undertaking a mass euthanasia program against mentally and physically disabled men, women and children. He was the first ex-royal in Germany whom shook Hitlers hand and is credited for helping promote Hitler on his way to power. His duchy, Coberg (referenced in the royal family's real name before it was changed to Windsor) was one of the first towns in Germany to be declared 'Jew-Free'.
