In fairness Setanta, republicans are not in a position to criticise such logic, considering they have used it so many times themselves in the past. Like Jim already said that hasn't been the case since Russell went to the USSR and Germany. We gave nothing to Lybia and we had affinity with Palestine. No but if its ok for Russell and indeed the men of 1916 to act on such principles, then its hardly fair to criticise unionists for also using such principles. I'm not making a judgement on it, just pointing out the hypocrisy of criticising WASP in this context.

We're hardly going to link up with the Taleban or anything now are we? How did Russells escapades go down? Not great was it? And we've learned from that. I never said you were. Russell is commemorated every year is he not? The point is if republicans can use the principle of my enemies enemy is my friend, then why cant WASP?

Most republicans on here if not all were quick to defend Russell which I find amusing when I get critisized for similar thinking. Seems to be very much a case if we do it then its fine, if you do it and it goes against us then we are against it.

I find it equally hypocritical that unionists accuse republicans of tyranny when the British empire owned 1/3 of the globe by force. Are you proud of your old empire?

I agree, I thought this thread was about Fianna Fáil's northern strategy.
Tactical voting has always been my preference particularly in proportional voting elections. You only get one chance to have a say, ie Vote. And I make sure I work my way down the list spreading my vote and hope that at some point my vote is the casting one that ensures that my greatest enemy is denied a political position. I think those that do not tactically vote do not have either the confidence or the proper understanding of proportional voting, and are not expressing their vote to its full extent and to some extent wasting their full vote potential. Many people fall into this catogory because the system is so difficult to fully understand and most only give it a passing thought as their main concern is having a life.

AFD this is something that IMO Unionists are well behind republicans in. I know many Unionists who put down one or two people and that is it. But this isn't the voters fault it is the politicians fault (Unionist) for not making these points clear enough.
I myself am a bit hypocritical concerning voters as I seldom voted in the past, but that has now changed. I don't want FF in N.Ireland but I would want them organised here if it was going to damage sf election results who I see as the enemy. Then again I could be playing into ff's hands by doing so and help create a U.I in a different way if that is their short term aim. Although I doubt it as a successful N.I will be used as a role model and Ireland will be see to play a big part with FF at the controls. If you understand what I mean.

I think WASP has every right to go on as he's stated in this thread. That's democracy.
