"Bertie Ahern said earlier this year the Flight of the Earls marked the beginning of a critical phase in the shaping of the modern Ireland, with its complexities and diverse identities. "
God he's a great man for the prevaricating quote, isn't he? A critical phase? It marked the end of the old Gaelic order and the dawn of the English era in Ireland. No shite about complexities and diverse identities, it was the end of an era, simple as that Bertie, no matter how your mealy-mouthed attempt at earnestness might want it. Gobshite.
