Well Nigel does indeed have a point, if born here then play for here not for a country they were no born in.

If he wants to play for them, then he can go jump. We don't need anyone that has no desire to play for us. Good luck to the lad and all the best for his international career. We're doing fine

James Quinn was born in Coventry . Perhaps Worthington should drop them from the squad as they should play for the country of their birth....or perhaps he is talking bollocks.

The guy is an Irish citizen and FIFA have allowed him and others to choose. I support the Republic before I support Northern Ireland, am I wrong? Am I wrong that I support other teams like Italy (before they won aswell) when neither of them are in the world cup? Ive got absolutely no links to Italy.

Supporting is different than playing for. I support England and Brazil when N.Ireland were not at the world cup etc. But my heart lies with my country of birth although there are people born in different countries for various reasons such as there parents job etc. But IMO if you are born in N.Ireland, live here most of your life, your family's here etc then surely what is wrong with playing for N.Ireland???

because wasp he would see himself as been born in ireland and not in n.ireland - i would not want to speak for the man but like some nationalist he would see the island of ireland as just ireland.

Supporting and playing are using the same mentality when choosing who to support. He clearly doesnt want to play for Northern Ireland, for many people the conditions arent right to support Northern Ireland yet nevermind play for them and I'm one of those people. I support them over other teams but behind the Republic and its always been that way, I'm sure there are a lot of NI supporters that would be the opposite, so whats the problem? Just another reason why Best was right on the need for the one Irish team. Nevermind a better team, it would stop dicky arguements like this.

I can't see any chance of an all Ireland team for many many years at least.

Neither can I but it would be good to see but there are too many fans north and south that want to keep their own teams separate.

Seeing the respect that the Ulster players get playing for an all Ireland rugby team is enough to know that an all Ireland football team won't be happening until the day that hell freezes over and a UI is acheived.
