Bertie has said that he will give €5m for a peace monument. www.rte.ie/news/2007/0422/fiannafail.htmlI wonder what are forum members views on this. Should the money be better spent? And is this Bertie ensuring that his name is on the footnotes of history? But if it is only for a monument or nothing what typre of monument do people suggest? Consider the various ones we already have, In Dublin there is the 'Dublin Spire', or 'the stiletto in the ghotto' or 'The Nail in the Pale' (my favourite). Recently Belfast put up a large pole with a point, and said it was Belfast's spire - its a pole!! An before the end of the year it will be traditional to fly the union jack from it! Also we have Carson's statue at Stormont. In Dublin there is Molly Malone or 'The Tart with the Cart'. In Belfast there is Nuala with the Huala or 'The Thing with the Ring'. Also in Dublin is Anna Livia statue or 'The Floozie in the Jucuzzi' or even more crude (The Whore in the Sewer - but you need the Dublin brogue to pronounce Whore as Who-er), I am not sure if she has been relocated yet. One of the drinking buddies said a fitting monument would be to remove the border altogether, then Bertie really would have his name in history.

I'm not trying to be a dick but I cant be bothered with peace momuments, especially one that costs 5 million euro. that would be a fitting monument though, have to agree *ducks from the unionists*

Considering our history of conflict Bertie might be a bit premature.
