I was wandering what the opinions are from members here concerning God's love, do you think it is an unconditional love, does he love everyone etc etc. Even athiests here are more than welcome to comment on what they believe about what Christians believe about this.

As said by the mighty George Carlin. I agree with it completely.

Guess it depends on which Christian god you're talking about as there seems to be two totally different types. "The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully". His 'son', Jesus, on the other hand seems to have been quite a cool chap though. He, according to the new testament, preached a more palatable message of tolerance, love, understanding and forgiveness. Qualities that I would personally deem virtuous.

I've never seen any evidence of God's love. Zip.

Just adding an observation.....
It has always “bemused’ me how the majority of mankind views “GOD”.They seem to have this notion that the “GOD” should act in the fashion that they would, and that “GOD” should grant them their every wish. In other words they worship a god THEY have created rather than a god who created them. Of course when the things they want to happen don’t, then obviously there is no god to begin with. Let us try to look at this as being a family. In a normal earthly family the father is the head. In the spiritual family, Jehovah (His name. “God” is merely a description) is the head. Let’s say you are the father of 3 sons, Andy, Billy and Charlie. They are typical kids, a bit unruly, untidy etc. The circus is coming to town and they want to go. So, you lay down a set of rules. Be good, DO your homework. DO your chores. DON’T leave your clothes and playthings scattered about. Etc. Now, Andy and Billy obey the rules and do everything asked of them. The other one is well named and acts like a proper Charlie, still not doing homework. Still not tidying up after him. The day comes for the trip to the circus and when Charlie realizes he isn’t included he starts a big fuss. Crying and promising he’ll do better in the future and all... What do you as a father do? More than likely you will give in, for various reasons. You feel ‘compassion’. You don’t want to come across as ‘heartless’, so you say OK you can come. What lesson have you just relayed to Charlie? Dad is a big softie. I can do what I want and still get the reward. What about Andy and Billy who obeyed the rules? Can you blame them if they decide to just do what they want in future? After all what good did it do to ‘be good’ when ‘being bad’ got Charlie the same reward. If dad says one thing and then breaks his word, how can we believe him in the future? The heavenly Father is different. He lays down His rules, DO this, DO that, DON’T do the other, and you will get your reward. He means what He says. If you don’t play by the rules, you DON’T get the reward. Therefore you can trust Him and His word. As for His love, came across this passage today....
Someone once said that “the measure of love is what one is willing to give up for it.” God the Father loved so much that He gave up His Son. Christ loved so much that He gave up His life—even taking our sins on himself and dying in our place.
The measure of God’s love for you is great. Have you accepted his love personally? –Bill Crowder
