Perhaps a nuclear war would solve all our differences and financial problems??

Perhaps ;D ;D
While I would be opposed to any money grabbing government raising the age of retirement, I also understand that while the population is living longer steps need to be taken to ensure pensions etc do not help bankrupt a country.
What has went on in the commons is nothing short of an outrage and all parties are guilty including those from here from sinn fein to the dupers to labour and the tories. Shame on the flamin lot of them and they are only sorry because this has all been made public. But I do welcome David Cameron's reaction to it all and he has shown that the tories would be better trusted than this current shambles called a labour party.

I agree on all points especially the wine bit. ;D ;D
IMO if people have worked dam hard all their lives, provided for their families, provided a roof over there head etc regardless of working income then they are entitled to retire at 65 if not before it but given the choice if they wish to work on.
Take a working class man/woman who hold down a few jobs just to pay the bills and provide for their kids, he/she above anyone has a right to a good retirement which would be a well earned retirement. Now if a person was simply a layabout most of their lives then they should not be entitled to the same retirement pension as someone who worked dam hard all their life or who actively looked for work to provide for their family.

It won't happen anyway. Either the situation will have improved by 2017 (and you'd have to bloody hope so) or a different government will be in power. It's just a ruse by Rudd to look like he's doing something to balance the books when in reality he's not.

I intend to go out with a bang. Save up money not for a pension to be lost by bankers and politicians, but to pay for a massive orgy, and go out with a smile on my face and a massive bag of coke in my hand.
"Mammy, How did Grandpa die on holidays?"
"He must of went very peacefully. I've never seen such a happy corpse"
"It's an open casket funeral because they can't close the lid!"
"17 I heard. They had to dig him out of a mountain of naked ladies"
"...wrapped right around his face! Sure it's no wonder his heart gave up."
"I didn't even know that there is a deluxe edition of the karma sutra".
"Yes, just like his age. 69."

Setanta, he's all right. He's what Australia needed after Johnny Boy, but he's making things tougher than he needs to. During this particular economic crisis, Australia has very little to worry about, apart from its overseas trading partners. The Oz economy is sound and so are its banks, so it's likely to weather the storm better than many places. Rudd himself is a strangely hard-to-like bloke.
