GAELIC GAMES: GAA president Nickey Brennan has offered Dubai as a venue for the 2009 Fitzgibbon Cup final, after Hurling championship sponsor Ethiad Airways requested that a major match would be played in the Middle East next year.
Brennan was speaking at the Annual Convention of the GAA's Higher Education Body yesterday which was hosted by Trinity College.
He also hinted that the proposed Special Congress motion to play Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cup games before Christmas will now be withdrawn in favour of a different approach to the issue of burnout, as games would directly clash with students' preparations for Christmas exams.
