This Wednesday they fire the Large Hadron Collider at CERN for the first time, where we'll get to observe the state of the universe moments after the big bang, see nothing at all or will be sucked into a rampaging black hole. Isn't science fun! The observer has a section full of info on the experiment. www.guardian.co.uk/science/cern

Ahh but in the grand scheme of the Universe we are an insignificant black hole and therefore do not registar.
