WASP,
I know how much you love religion, so I just wanted to let you know that there is a 2 hour program on channel 4 tonight:
The Qur'an
Documentary by award-winning film-maker Antony Thomas, exploring what Islam's holiest book preaches about issues including equality, punishment, peace and other faiths. He asks how it allows for a broad range of contradictory interpretations around the world and meets some of the people who live according to their understandings of the text, from peasant farmers to leading Islamic thinkers.

Did you watch this WASP? Very interesting. Shows that the press sharia law get's is mostly wrong. Trying to pin a stereotype on a muslim, is like trying to stereotype every Christian under a narrow set of descriptions. It also stated that the type of Islam being promoted from the U.S. ally Saudi Arabia is no the traditional Islam, contained within the Qur'an, but is an evangelical-like version of Islam which is all about punishment and hate. It explained how womens attire and female circumcision are not contained in the Qur'an, but are local customs to some areas, that try and dress their local customs up as strict muslim customs.
Proper Muslims, accept both the Jewish and Christian holy books as valid holy scripture and are thought that Christians and Jews are their fellow brothers.

Most "islamic" traditions such as that, extend from pre-islamic traditions anyway. Arranged marrages are usually thought of as an islamic tradition, but its actually a Pakistani tradition, muslims in most other countries dont do it. Just one example.

Some fker put an Iraqi flag on my telephone pole last night, now waiting on an air strike or free ticket to Guantanamo. Outside of NI, this whole sentence means something completely different! No-one is going to flag my pole, and that's for sure! ;D

I flamin missed it earl, but I appreciate the tip on it being on. I have watched various documantaries on the muslim faith and read up on it and TBH there are those clerics who twist alot of there teachings to suit the extremist agenda. Sadly it is these clerics that are focused on and many muslims are wrongly tarred with the same brush.
I am friendly with a couple of muslim guys and they are the salt of the earth. Infact without mentioning any names one in particular used to have alot of heated debates with alot of you guys on here and I was very surprized when he told me he was a sunni muslim. He utterly condemns the constant attacks on Isreal, the suicide bombers etc and those clerics who have helped demonize the Islamic faith.
This plays into the hands of those in the west who feed on such suspician and hatred and this has resulted with the help of Iran etc in many people viewing muslims as evil. I don't agree with there theology in any way, but like me they are human beings and like the rest of us they have religious extremists among there ranks.
