The Coca-Cola company is to submit a planning application for a combined €190m manufacturing and innovation facility on a 41-acre site on the Wexford Business Park.
The proposed investment would include manufacturing, laboratory and pilot plant facilities to enagle process development and product commercialisation. Some of the E190m would also be allocated to research and development activities.
It is expected that the facility will create about 60 jobs after a year and over 100 after five years of operation. A number of jobs will also be created in the construction phase of the development. Advertisement
The Coca-Cola Ireland company employs about 25 people in Dublin, while Coca-Cola Bottlers Ireland has a workforce of 650. Last October the company closed its concentrate plant in Drogheda, Co. Louth with the loss of 250 direct jobs.

Tax incentives I'd say. A lot of manufacturing has left the Carlow/Wexford area over the last 10 years. No doubt the government offered a sweeter deal to locate this facility there.
