Any won fancy to predict the All-Ireland winner and the winners of the Provincials?
It is hard to see past Kerry as All-Ireland winners.
But the Provincials are harder; Ulster - Armagh Leinster - Dublin Munster - Kerry Connaught - Mayo

Here is what I think.
Ulster - Tyrone Leinster - Dublin(though I wouldhave an outside bet on Meath to beat them in the semi). Connaught - Galway Munster - Kerry
Back Door 4 - Donegal, Armagh, Mayo, Laois
All-Ireland Winners - Tyrone v Kerry Final - Kerry to pip it.
Please no-one quote this post as I plan to delete it as soon as it all goes horribly wrong.

I think there is too much in fighting in Tyrone to make a serious bid, Armagh are aging but have the experience for one more bid. I fancy Donegal as an outside choice.

I reckon Donegal to come out of Ulster, Galway from Connacht, kerry and the Dubs to do teh business as well. The eventaual winner? Harder and harder to see past Kerry. Meanwhile can I make a rash p-rediction for the hurling? Waterford to win it.

Now that is either very brave or you know something?? I am not up on the hurling other than watching the big games. But it hard to see beyond Cork, and Kilkenny, but Leinster is hard to get out of. I will ask some of my mates what they think and get back to you with their assessments of the ones to watch. But I have heard talk of Waterford myself.

Waterford blitzed Cork in the league and they're playing with skill, passion adn belief. They've been there or thereabouts for a while now, I just have a sneaking suspicion they'll at least make the final (prob. against f***ing Kilkenny). As for getting out of Leinster, it's nearly impossible and I say that as a Wexford man.

as the son of a man from kilkenny i must protest about the slanderous nature of the remarks above but not too strongly as I am about as sporty as a very non-sporty thing and even if Ireland won the next world cup I would be fairly indifferent.

While I can accept non-sporty, everyone has an opinion or county that they hang their hat on come All-Ireland time. My family is spead far and wide across Ireland. So there are few counties that I can not claim. So surely Marcus you can opt for a team, that you would like to see do well. The atmosphere of an All-Ireland no matter if you are in Croke or the local bar watching or even at home is special. And it is not just about the two teams that made the final, it is about all the others who fell along the way there too.
So Marcus you are down for Kilkenny for the hurling, what about the football??

Canavan is unhappy with Harte and the lack of ideas and it's spreading to the dressing room ..... so the story goes. I've asked around. No-one has heard of it. Checked hoganstand.com forum in case it was mentioned. Not once. As I said, someone is telling you porkies.

I watched the Galway v Mayo match, and could not believe it. I do not think the first half wind was the winning factor, as Mayo did not capitalise on it in the second half. I thought Galway tackled harder and better. Mayo seemed to make a number of strange tactical decisions, and paniced in front of open goals.
Fermanagh are a much under-estimated team, and if Tyrone and Armagh had not been so dominant they would have made a greater impact, but they lack big match confidence because of this. But one day someone will get a surprise. Given the injuries, etc Tyrone did well to come through this one.

Well well well, Mayo out already! Not many of us saw that coming. I did!!!! I put a tenner on Meath to win Leinster two weeks ago, so I'll be hoping for a different result on the 3rd. Meath will always raise their game against the Dubs. I was at the game. Fermanagh were very good in two spells. the first 20 minutes and a ten minute spell in the second half. Apart from that Tyrone dominated throughout. Something I dont think any other team bar kerry could do with 9 first teamers out through injury. We also lost Cavanagh who is our replacement full forward. O'Neill, Mulgrew, McGinley, Mulligan(who was far from fit when he came on), McMahon(x2) will all some back from injury for the Armagh game. Excellent news that McGuigan will be available for either the Ulster Final or the first round of the qualifiers. Our best players were two new guys on the day which bodes well for the future. I think if Tyrone can stay in long enough we will only get stronger. remember, in 2005, we were terrible at times in the Ulster. We only came alive in the second half of the Quarter final against Dublin. In 2003, we got taken to replays by Down and Derry. We will get sronger this year. After the fermanagh game, I seriously fancy us. They were full stength and polayed above themselves and still lost. Tyrone traditionally get stronger as the year progresses

I have to agree that Tyrone did very well considering the long list of injuries, and they usually do get stronger. I will want to see how Armagh v Donegal compares, a bruising match would suit Tyrone.
