I still can not get my head around some of the results of this world cup. Argentina beat France England beat France France beat New Zealand England beat Australia South Africa destroyed England
And now the Final South Africa v England.
I fancied SA to do well, but could not see the All Blacks being beaten by any team. I also felt France would do well with home advantage on their side. Ireland played below standard in every match, and in my book that means a new coach/manager is required. SA have played different games against different teams, they have played to win, even if that means ugly. I think England have done tremendous to get to the final. And when you consider that Ireland destroyed the same team at Croke Park, you have to question the reason why Ireland did not get out of the group stages.
How does Bearhunter feel?

Is it psychological I wonder? The English have shown tremendous spirit, courage and belief. Whereas Ireland seemed to lose belief in themselves. We have some wonderfully talented players, yet they just couldnt get it together. Who would you propose to be coach in the event that EOS is sacked? btw, can't believe that New Zealand bottled it again.

I feel physicially sick even thinking about the RWC. As for EOS's replacement: anyone. Anyone at all, even Steve fucking Staunton.

I was flicking back and forward from the 'Republic' and 'Norn Iron' matches. The Norn Iron match was more entertaining. I listened to the post match analysis on RTE and after listening to the restrained 'expert' opinion, (and they were surprizingly extremely restrained) I have no doubt that Stan Staunton has not the ability to manage the 'Republic' team. I think Liam Brady's assessment of him was fair. And while it is obvious to wait until all the games in this campaign has been played. It is essential that the Republic get a new manager and preferably a manager with experience. I would consider maybe David O'Leary.
As for who replaces EOS, I am not sure who are the possible alternatives but like Bearhunter anyone would be better but I think Stan would be a step too far backwards.

I fancied the All Blacks from the start so i was wrong. England lack flair but in recent games have shown the doggedness and sheer determination to beat anyone. SA stiil have to be massive favourites but i'll be screaming for England come saturday. Ireland were pure rubbish to begin with and altough i've changed my views in regards to the IRFU i was still very gutted with their performances.
Turning to the footy. NI played great last night and very nearly won the game and they would have deserved to win it. Just so upsetting when i think of what could of been if we had beaten the so called lesser teams. Being favourites in a game really seems to upset us and we don't seem to handle any expectancy very well. Losing to Iceland twice is gutting. However we still have an outside chance and will be massive underdogs in our final 2 games so fingers crossed ;D ROI are hit and miss, poor results along the way and i doubt Stauntons credibility as an international manger but maybe he needs more time???

I was watching the ROI match in the pub (we originally went down to watch the NI match) and on the last two minutes they put it onto the NI match, so we missed the goals in both matches.
I refuse to acknowledge the roi's team, they where fucking dire. Staunton hasnt a clue.

First game I've ever seen where I wanted both sides to lose. Can we shut up about the rugby now?
