Thank you, thank you, I look forward to dining out with the ould fella, although he'll have to pay my fare home. As for grafitti, my favourites were the sign in Larne "Welcome to sunny Ulster - the wages of sin is death." And in Dublin: "Eireomid aris (we will rise again)" scrawled on the wall of Arbour Hill cemetery.

with no offence to the guys in arbour hill at all that would be er interesting seeing as they were originally thrown into quicklime as i recall. Other stupid bits of Ulster graffit 'No Pope here - Lucky Pope!' (although that one is older than the dinosaurs).

I was once told the reason that the phrase "F*** the Pope" was so popular among NI grafitti artists was that none of them could afford the paint required to spray "F*** the Moderator of the Assembly of Presbyterian Churches of Northern Ireland", nor could they find a wall long enough. I am still tickled by the old chestnut in Dublin: "Free Nicky Kelly", to which some card had added "With every packet of corn flakes." When the pro-Nicky painters moved on to "Release Nicky Kelly", the genius replied with "On 12-inch vinyl". Brilliant.
