Egyptian authorites have refused to entry to two Irish women who are trying to cross the border from Gaza.
Sean-nós singer Treasa Ní Cheannabháin and her daughter, Naisirin Elsafty, are both from the Galway branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
Egyptian border officials are refusing entry, even though Ms Ní Cheannabháin is married to an Egyptian citizen.
Ms Ní Cheannabháin and Ms Elsafty had crossed over into Gaza illegally from Egypt last Saturday having been refused legal entry by Egyptian authorities.
The reason for their visit was to distribute money to disadvantaged Palestinians that was collected by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
They were in the town of Khan Yunis, Gaza, yesterday afternoon when an Israeli airstrike hit a Hamas police station and killed seven.
The two women are now at the Egypt/Gaza border and have been in contact with both the Irish and Egyptian embassies.
