Let's not forget one of the American allies who they say is a moderate called for a man who turned to Christianity to be ripped to shreds by those that find him etc. Oh he was an ally because he opposed the taliban.

The whole friggin' thing was never about freeing Afghans from enslavement. It was about the U.S. striking out at someone after 9/11. Then it was about forcing through plans for a new oil pipeline through the region. The people who live there don't matter, and the struggle of the troops on the ground trying to do the best they can doesn't matter. This is how the world works.

the British army was never short of a bit of cannon fodder to be used cynically. While on the surface some brave words were been said about the young lad sacrifices and in the background the familes left behind were often hard put to even get the pensions due out of the govt. or any support.
Afghanistan is riven by tribal in-fighting and mini civil wars and there is no way that any western govt. can go and introduce democracy as they understand it It's a lost cause from moment one, just like a certain other country.

I have setanta and it is shocking what so called politicans put there own army through. But in all honesty something had to happen in Afghanistan, look at the abuses the taliban inflicted on there own people. Something had to be done to improve the lives of those who live there, the ordinary people just trying to survive without having to live with the fear of the taliban.
Those soldiers are brave as fuck and I salute them, but I do support some kind of force to oust the barbaric taliban, sadly some of those who are classed moderate are indeed extremists themselves. Apparently being anti-taliban makes you a moderate.
In all seriousness leaving aside all the accusations concerning reasons to attack Afghanistan, how on earth do we try to help those people who are suffering at the hands of the likes of the taliban?

I think those soldiers should be brought home, to be honest.
Not our fucking problem, never was, never will be.
