So Happy Ulster Day to one and all. A wee poem in honour of the day
The 28th Of September
The day is near upon us,the feelings' growing strong My heart's once more in Ulster the land where I belong The flag's still flying proudly as it did in days of yore As we remember with pride and honour those stirring days once more
Ulster Day and the Covenant are stilled recalled with pride By Ullish folk at home, and across the oceans wide Wherever we may be,in a moment of quiet thought Let us remember our forefathers, and freedom so dearly bought
Our comrades on the mainland together did combine In their thousands upon thousands they came forward then to sign For King and for Covenant and for loyal Ulster too They pledged themselves again to the old red white and blue
So we will take the time once more to stop and pause To remember those who on this day long ago, rallied to the cause Prepared to defend their beliefs what 'ere before them lay That is why we still remember...this very special day.

Not to hijack the thread, but I do not see the covenant in a positive light at all. Along with the 1916 rising, it helped to partition our country.

Why do Unionists celebrate the partition of the six counties of Ulster from the other three? Do people in Donegal have an Ulster day?

Why do Unionists celebrate the partition of the six counties of Ulster from the other three? Do people in Donegal have an Ulster day? I dont know if they have an Ulster day but people from Donegal signed it along with people from other parts of the republic such as Louth, Dublin, Kildare, Leitrim, Limerick, Kilkeeny, Mayo, Meath and Monaghan etc.
