AN Orange hall in Rasharkin has been targeted in yet another sectarian attack. Paint was daubed over the building during the early hours of yesterday morning.
The sinister graffiti made reference to the republican 32 County Sovereignty Committee, the Continuity IRA and Real IRA. Police confirmed that the damage was reported to them at 8am yesterday.
A councillor said it was the sixth time in the last five weeks that the hall has been targeted.
Last Friday night, a fire was started in front of the hall by arsonists, causing scorch damage.
DUP representative John Finlay says he is "almost out of words" following the latest incident.
"The amount of condemnations I have issued on Rasharkin has been numerous because of the ongoing attacks on the Protestant community and the Orange hall," he said.
"This has to be brought to an end. We need to see the police taking action and people brought before the courts."
The former Ballymoney mayor does not believe the persistent campaign by republicans is necessarily linked to tomorrow night's contentious loyalist parade in the village.
"This is a campaign of blatant sectarianism by a small minority to try and ethnically cleanse Rasharkin," he said.
"Last year, there was a total of 14 attacks on Protestant homes or property. From January to March this year, there were 18 attacks. This has been ongoing so these attacks have nothing to do with parades, yet they happened."
Such incidents have been occurring on a tit-for-tat basis in the north Antrim area over recent days.
In Ballymoney at the weekend, an Ancient Order of Hibernians hall was targeted with graffiti.
"These people are doing a great disservice to the unionist people in Northern Ireland," Mr Finlay said.
"They should be condemned as they are taking away from the real issue of what is happening in Rasharkin. They need to cease so that we can focus on Protestants in the village who are under siege."
Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area overnight on Tuesday.

Do they not have CCTV's or anything to catch these incidents? A few cameras around Rasharkin would surely catch some of these idiot? It may be something that could help. I recall a spate of attacks in Ballymena a few years back on Catholic schools etc and the police actually deployed at locations all night to prevent it. Rasharkin should bring shame on anyone calling themselves a Republican.

There's no self denial. These idiots would like nothing better than to be hailed as republicans. Whilst it might be a dirty word for you, it's a badge of pride for them and I certainly wouldn't give them the satisfaction of being called republicans.

A number of business premises in Garvagh, County Londonderry, have been damaged in sectarian attacks. A total of 20 windows were broken at a butcher's shop, a cafe, a hotel and a public house on Main Street between 0300 BST and 0330 BST on Sunday. Police say they are treating the attacks as sectarian. They said they would be examining CCTV footage following the incident and have appealed for information. East Derry SDLP MLA John Dallat said resources for rural policing needed to be reviewed. "The present system is failing ordinary decent people living in vulnerable places such as Garvagh," he said. "They don't need to be getting phone calls in the middle of the night to tell them to return to their premises, as they have been smashed up." Sinn Fein councillor Billy Leonard said the owners of the premises would not be put out of business by "thugs". "I spoke to one of the business people who said that they would be determined to keep going, that they serve a mixed clientele and they have a mixed workforce," he said. More onseided reporting and condemantion from the local filth of leonard and dallat. Why did they not mention the fact that the Saturday before these attacks the only Protestant owned bar in Garvagh had to close for 3 days because of a sectarian attack in which it had all of its windows broked?? Why did they not speak out about that since they have so much interest in the area?? Maybe they didnt like the world to hear that these attacks were revenge attacks because of what happened to a Protestant owned business the week before. 2scumbags well suited to eachother who are very vocal when it comes to defending known republican drug dealers, criminals, thugs and those who terrorize the whole community. Yet they are very vocal when it comes to condeming a flag or some Prods who were involved with thuggish behaviour, fuck they will shout from the rooftops.

The police are not doing enough to stop attacks on Orange halls, the Grand Secretary of the Orange Order has said.
Three halls were attacked at the weekend. Six bottles of paint were smashed against the front of Clifton Street Hall in north Belfast.
It is believed a tractor was used to damage halls in Rasharkin and Ballymoney on Friday night.
"The police are not treating these attacks seriously enough, they are not devoting enough resources to them."
"In the past few years we've had just over 300 halls that have been subject to arson attacks," said Drew Nelson.
"For all of those attacks, I think there have only been six convictions."
Damage
Police are investigating a possible link between the attacks on the County Antrim Orange halls.
The door at Tullaghans Orange Hall on Bravallan Road in Ballymoney was forced opened.
Drums and furniture inside the building were also damaged in the incident which was reported at 1710 BST on Saturday.
Police said it may be linked to another attack in which a tractor was used to knock down a wall outside Granagh Independent Orange Hall in Rasharkin.
The front door of the building on Mullan Road was also damaged in that incident which was discovered on Saturday morning.

The Orange Order said it was “deeply worried” by attacks on three Orange halls in the space of 24 hours.
In Belfast six bottles of paint were smashed the front outside wall of an Orange hall in Clifton Street, north Belfast, at some time on Saturday night.
Meanwhile a tractor is thought to have been used in attacks on two Orange halls in rural Co Antrim.
A tractor was used to knock down a boundary wall at Granagh Independent Orange Hall on Mullan Road in Rasharkin early on Saturday.
The front door of the hall was also damaged.
Later the door to Tullaghans Orange Hall in Ballymoney was forced open and damage caused to drums, tables and chairs which were stored inside.
Police believe a tractor was also used in the second attack, which was reported at around 5pm, and that the two may be linked.
The attacks are the first on Orange halls in some time.
An Orange Order spokesman said the Order was “deeply worried” by the attacks but appealed for no retaliation by the loyalist community.
The spokesman said: “The order believes these attacks on our culture were co-ordinated as it is hardly a coincidence that three took place in a weekend. There must be people in the community who know who is responsible and can help police catch those responsible.
“We would appeal to the loyalist community not to respond to the attacks by people who are trying to stir up tensions.”
Ballymoney DUP councillor John Finlay blamed “local republicans” for the Rasharkin and Ballymoney attacks, and said they had carried out “a blatant act of sectarianism”.
“Their actions are not welcomed by the majority of people living in the area.”
Mr Finlay called on Sinn Fein to speak out against sectarian attacks.
“These events have been happening under their watch and if they are truly committed to a ‘shared future’ then they would offer leadership and maturity in preventing attacks and reducing tensions.
“The use of a large mechanical machine demonstrates great determination of local republicans to create maximum destruction. Some people just do not want a Protestant about the place.”
Sinn Fein assembly member Daithi McKay said: “These attacks have to be condemned outright. People in Rasharkin are totally fed up with attacks on Orange halls, church halls and Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) halls. All sectarian attacks are utterly futile.”
Police have appealed for information about the attacks, and said there was a “larger than usual” number of people in the area at the time of the Rasharkin incident.

I know its on another thread but i'll just put it here also. A Rasharkin man has said his family are desperate to leave the County Antrim village because of sectarian attacks. Christopher McCaughan's car was covered in paint and windows were smashed at his home on Church Road shortly after midnight on Saturday. Mr McCaughan, who is a Protestant, said it was the latest in a series of attacks on his home and property. He said he has had enough. The police confirmed they are treating the latest incident as a hate crime. Mr McCaughan told BBC Radio Ulster: "This has been going on since February. "I need some help from somebody to try and get me out of this situation that we are having to live through. "I want away from here," he said. Local DUP Councillor John Finlay described the latest incident as "blatantly sectarian". He said: "Sectarian attacks have been a regular occurrence this year in the town with attacks on a number of Protestant homes as well as the local Orange hall." Sinn Fein MLA Daithi McKay said the attack on the McCaughan family was to be "condemned outright" and said those who carried it out have no support within the local area. "Their actions are totally reprehensible and members of the nationalist and republican community here want to see all of these senseless attacks coming to an end," he said. SHEEP belonging to a Protestant farmer in Tyrone have been painted in the colours of the Irish tricolour as part of an ongoing campaign of intimidation, it has been claimed. In an overnight attack last week, six pregnant sheep were rounded up and sprayed green, white and gold.
The farmer whose animals were targeted in this bizarre attack now fears many of his livestock have lost their unborn lambs because of the ordeal.
"We'll have to get the sheep scanned to see if the lambs are okay, but they have been through a terrible ordeal and there's a real chance a few lambs will be lost," said the farmer, who wished to remain anonymous.
Gateposts were also painted and a tricolour flag placed in the field on the farm, which is outside the village of Coagh.
The farmer, who has lived in the area for more than 20 years, said there had been an upsurge in sectarian attacks.
"I have always got on well with people here, but there have been a number of minor things happening, like gates being left open in fields where there are animals.
"It must have taken at least four or five of them to round up the sheep and paint them, so it is not just one or two young ones involved here."
Willie Frazer, from victims' group FAIR, said his organisation had been inundated by reports of similar attacks on "vulnerable" Protestant homes and farms.
"In the Tyrone attack PIRA slogans were printed on gateposts and a tri-colour with the ominous slogan 'We haven't Gone away U No' was left. Despite the poor spelling and low intelligence of the perpetrators their message was a clear warning to the isolated Protestant farmer," said Mr Frazer.
UUP MLA Billy Armstrong condemned the attack for raising tensions in "an area where Protestants and Roman Catholics live side by side".
"This was a sectarian attack and Halloween prank," he said.
A police spokesman said they had received a report of the graffiti attack on the sheep and that "inquiries were continuing".

An Irish Bowling Champion living in County Antrim has said he does not know why he has been the target of a suspected sectarian attack.
Gary Kelly's car was destroyed by a petrol bomb in Ballymoney on Thursday night.
Mr Kelly, a Catholic, has been living in the same house in the mainly Protestant area for over 20 years.
Speaking on Friday, Mr Kelly said "we just can't get our heads around it, we don't understand".
He said: "Before the attack there was a note put through our letter box as well which said 'your republican connections will not go unnoticed'."
Mr Kelly added: "It is just scary the thought that the petrol bomb could have been in through our front living room window rather than the car window."
North Antrim Sinn Fein MLA Daithi McKay has condemned the attack.
Mr McKay said he had "concerns that loyalist paramilitaries are involved in these attacks".
He said: "This was an absolutely disgraceful attack in Ballymoney and I know that people from across the community in this town will condemn it outright."
