Setanta you dont seem to get it at all, it doesnt matter whether it was a 98p bath plug or a £700 tv or a £200 food bill each is as bad as the other as a matter of principle. All the parties are guilty and many individuals really took the biscuit. This is something that has everyone talking and everyone united and I agree with what afd has said and you know the history between afd and myself has had very little agreement but on this I couldnt agree more with him.

THis average industrial wage is a pile of crap. 21,600 quid apiece for SF. Then there is the fact that two of them sharing a flat are both claiming more than the full market rental of the flat, giving them each an extra 13 grand a year, tac free. That's how they pay for the holiday homes, rather than the modest amount they make from books (honestly, they haven't sold enough books between them all to give up the day jobs - the money made from books is surprisingly small unless you are selling millions of copies).
But the real rip-off is that Gerry and Martin are doing this in London, where they do not even attend Parliament. So what is the value to their constituents to them being there? Would they not serve their communities better by staying at home and working from there? Just a thought.
By the way, I'm firmly in the "curse on all their houses" camp on this, so don't take this as merely SF-bashing. I'm just pointing out the lousy hypocrisy of their holier-than-thou "industrial wage" claims.

Attending the actual parliamentary discussions is only one part of being an MP.

They (and their representatives) do the same work as any other MP, the only thing they don't do is vote in the commons. Still have to travel to London though considering they form a government that is under the thumb of westminster.
