Setanta I have no problem with you being on pulse, I dont make the rules. I only have a problem with people pretending to be something they are not with the sole intention of shite stirring. To me these people are not interested in learning about the other community, they just want to try and make a joke of them which speaks volumes about them.
Anyway what was the thread and what was your username? I am interested to see what you posted not to report you or anything like it.

In reply to posts 12 and 13 you can all come along if you like but I think the missus may be a bit bemused by NI humor She already has to cope with an influx of all my relatives who have appeared out of the woodwork. We wanted a nice quite little wedding but now all the relatives are clamouring to appear.

Ah a free meal and an excuse to booze all day, I love weddings!! If you charge your relatives for the meal you will find that you will have a 'quiet little affair'!!

Well the relatives may be in for a wee shock as the restaurant we booked for after the wedding is Turkish. My dad has lived in London for many years and is used to lots of different cuisines but some of the aunties and uncles are... well the word culchie might cover it My wife likes very spicy food and she liked this restaurant of the ones we er secretly surveyed by ordering a meal from them to check the food quality. I can imagine my auntie who is 80 odd and from a small town in Clare - my dad who is her younger brother will end up choosing something non-spicy from the list for her as he is familar with turkish cuisine having worked with a lot of turks over the years. It's only fairly small still - about 20 after wedding guests. My missus has found some Irish/English wedding customs interestingly different. Such as the whole thing with wedding cakes - they don't do this in Russia - they just buy a selection of nice cream cakes from a good bakers. Also, she's wearing a red silk dress as in the part of Russia she comes from it is a traditonal bridal colour - I can see some family members collapsing in horror at that The Scarlet Woman, to coin a phrase..... Once the wedding is over I will record my thoughts on the recent events in the north but for right now I am stuck doing wedding preparations. Got the suit, got the dress, booked the church, booked the restaurant, booked photographer, booked flowers -still need to visit jeweller to collect rings as we had to ask for them to be hand-made because we both wanted plain rose gold bands - try finding this in a high st. jewellers.... It's not that expensive just not something they normally ever carry.

Talking of customs, in my family your in-laws must get 'checked out', while every religion is welcome and all nationalities including British military personel, families that sided with Collins and the Treaty are still off limits!! Or if you go ahead employ plenty of 'bouncers' for the reception.

I was on Politics.ie for a while, baiting ultra-republican nuts and actually standing up for the unionist people in many cases! Felt very strange, but a nutter is a nutter no matter what side of the divide they are on. Gave it up though as I didn't want to get bogged back down in tit-for-tat points scoring again. Haven't been near a forum since then until today.
