Liverpool is one most Orange cities in England What a great place. Great team, great night life, great chicks and as Orange as hell ;D ;D ;D

Liverpool and the nearby Southport has a very strong loyalist tradition which goes back years. Parades and so on are well attended in the area. Here is a wee piece of the close ties we have with our Liverpool friends who we will never ever forget.

Maybe the guy that did the mural got his dates and religion up. Maybe it should have been 1969, when the largest movement of refugees in western Europe since WW2 were burned out of their homes and had to flee to camps south of the border.
Anyway, I'm up for Rangers on this because at least they are making some efforts towards combating sectarianism, while Zenith are pandering to their racist fans.

I'm going for the Orcs too, partly becasue of Zenit's vile selection policies (no, don't say anymore....DON"T!) but mostly because my mate who I'm watching the game with will likely batter me if I don't. He's from Ballymena, you see....and I don't mock the afflicted. Anyway, shouldn't be too hard for the Bears, given that Everton whupped Zenit in the groups stages.

You still learning History from wall murals instead of from books? news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_ireland/4262842.stmThe Irish News reveals how a new Belfast mural has bemused local historians.
It describes how up to 2,000 Protestant women and children fled sectarian attacks in Belfast in 1971 to start new lives in Liverpool.
The paper says this apparent mass exodus has not been recorded in any official documents of the period, and wonders whether the root of the story is based on a two week holiday in Merseyside taken by up to 500 evacuees. Anyhoooo, I've just got an instant dislike for Zenith. They won't sign black players because their fans won't accept them. So fuck them racist bastards right up! I know this is way off thread, but I am responding is my excuse It was in the Irish News, so what they say must be true. Hear it from the horses mouth, someone who witnessed it. Then again I am probably a liar too. I was aware of this mural and always wanted to see it but could never find it. It's hard to believe now but the English didn't always think like they do today. The Unionist/loyalist cause was supported by many in England and Scotland, until the provies started bombing the UK. The Welsh who are life long friends of the republicans never did help unionists/loyalists. Mike Summerbee I knew from his works with these kids, another was Alan Ball. I remember taking a football team over to Liverpool, we had just won the youth cup at Dundela the week before. Part of the prize for winning was a trip to Liverpool where we played and beat (4-2 ) a team chosen from Liverpool Boys Clubs. We were treated like kings, and many of the boys were invited to stay that summer with the Everton players. Alan Ball took us to Evertons ground and we met all the players, they were playing Southampton that day. Can you imagine the prima donnas of today taking that much interest in a bunch of kids? If they did, the worlds press would known about it, (much the same as republicans would've done) so they could be pictured with the poor wee kids from Belfast, and the world would see what wonderful guys they are. The only paper who were there were "The Irelands Saturdy Night", (The Ulster to us ). Anyway what Liverpool did for loyalist kids should always be remembered. Had these been nationalist kids the world would've known about it. Giving the impression that only nationalist kids suffered during the socalled troubles. This story should be more widely publicised, so the world would know that not only poor nationalist kids had to be taken away from home. But as is usual with the prods, we have more pride and don't trail our coats like the those republicns who make political propaganda out of just about every situation. Perhaps that was a mistake, but it's how we were reared, we didn't moan and cry about our lot, we just got on with it.

And I'm sure if Ireland was never partitioned, your community would have done exactly the same right?
